Congratulations you have made it to May. You have made it to the end of the year and on May 24 you will experience the last day of school. First year teachers’ congratulations on making it through the entire school year. May is an extremely busy month for the NTA.
This month starts out with the LPDC committee meeting on May 2. The LPDC committee will be meeting at Liberty Middle School at 4pm. If you have renewed your license and want to start earning CEUs you must have a new plan completed before 3:15 pm. This way the committee can approve you at the May meeting and you can start earning CEUs and OEAs.
On May 3 I will be out of the office all day. There is a social studies work day scheduled at the ASC. Please feel free to send me emails and I will get back to you on Friday May 4.
The executive board meeting at the NTA office at 4pm on May 9. At this meeting the executive board members will be putting the final touches on the retirement dinner and the end of the year Bash.
On May 11 the NTA executive board will be attending the OEA RA in Columbus. The executive board will be gone the entire day and will be in Columbus. I will not be in the office and if anyone needs me I will be back in the office on Monday May 14. If for some reason there is an emergency please call my cell phone (740)504-3961.
On May 14 the School Board finance committee will be meeting. This meeting consist of treasurer and CFO Julio Valladres, Tom Bline (school board members) and Warren Webber (vice president of the school board). These meetings start around 5:45pm and usually last 30 to 40 minutes. At this meeting the treasure goes over all l the latest financial information for the district.
On May 14 the Newark City School board will be meeting at the ASC at 6:30pm. These meetings usually last 30 minutes and are full of fun interesting information. I highly recommend attending school board meeting if you would like to gain a better understanding of the school district.
On May 15 the NTA will hold the annual retirement dinner for the retiring teachers. The dinner will be held this year at the Trout Club and the following teachers are retiring this year: Elle Green, Judy Miller, Mary Catherine Stoll, and Ann Hinkle
May 16 is the Faculty Rep meeting. The Faculty Rep meeting will take place the NTA office starting at 4:15pm. It will be the last Faculty Rep meeting of the year. At this meeting we will install an elections chair for next year.
May 17 is the district’s last late start. This late start is teacher driven. You may work on what you need to work on in your room or do anything else during this time to benefit your classroom. May 17 is the senior athletic banquet in the commons from 7:30 to 9am.
On May 18 the NTA will hold the annual End of the Year Bash, which will take place at the Trout Club from 4pm to 6pm. This will be the event of the year and there will be many door prizes to be won. So I highly encourage all members to attend and enjoy appetizers and soft drinks on the NTA.
On May 23 we will have the final day of Rap. The RAP meeting will start at the ASC at 4pm. NTA executive board members will be meeting with Doug and Barb for our final discussion on the closing of the year.
As you can see that clearly wraps up the year. Thanks for the all the hard work you put into Newark City Schools. Over the summer I will email job postings.
